Sew what it's been a year (lol)

So its been like almost a year to date since I started this.....which I honestly thought I'd be a lot better at keeping up.  I suck.  To explain I had a lot going on.  I was planning wedding reception from VA that was to take place in NJ.  I started a new job, I hated it, then got the job I was trying to get for like a year (woohoo).  And then tons of other things inbetween.  I didn't blog, but I did sew!

I discovered that I could actually sew more than an apron.  I have made some purses, a quilt, and even a skirt!  I actually organized my sewing space in the man cave, into an incredibly functional one, without it making the poor man cave seem all crafty.  I have made some horrendous projects, and some awesome ones, and I have found that my love of sewing has not waned.

I decided I would list a few of the projects I have made.

A small little makeup bag.  This was the first project I ever made with a zipper, and on my new sewing machine that I got in May.  Its an awesome machine! From "Bend-the-rules-sewing" by Amy Karol

A pillow for my mom.  It doesn't look impressive.  But all the fabric was bits and pieces left over from some chair she had made.  It was quite a difficult task getting stripes of mismatched fabric to look like a pillow that was supposed to match :)

A plastic sewing maching cover, for my favorite new machine.  It wipes clean, its awesome.  It is made out of shower curtain material. I got the pattern from "S.E.W. everything workshop" by diana rupp.  Its the "sewing machine cozy" its supposed to be made from an oilcloth, but I just loved this fabric so much!

A purse I made that gave me the confidence to make some harder projects!
Another "Bend-the-rules-sewing" project!

The reorganized sewing "wall"

I take up so little space!

The greatest idea ever....it makes everything so easy to find!

Ugly mancave bathroom with a perfectly good storage area that wasn't being utilized.

I decided a fabric curtain would conceal my crafty junk and no one (i.e. the man of the man cave) could complain!

My first attempts at actually quilting.  Not too bad. The pattern is from "Dare to Be Square Quilting" by Boo Davis.  Its the "chain reaction table runner"  It was pretty easy and that's a great book.

I found that I messed up the bias.  But I was able to fix it.  Perhaps a few more small quilting projects and I can move up to a human (or baby sized) quilt.

I quilted those lines myself!  Well the machine helped.

Up close :)

So that is just some of the projects I have been working on.  More to come (I hope), I keep finding more and more things I would love to sew, and hopefully I can venture into the worlds of garments.

I am going to split up some posts becuase looking around my house I keep finding things I sewed and want to share and don't want it to be the longest post ever.

Stay Tuned!
